My Experience
Born 2006 in The Georgian suburbs I've had a life more fortunate than others. I had a childhood not too different from others my age but unlike my friends I always had a profound interest in nutrition. For years it didn't amount to much as I continued to live my life but in 2018, I got obsessed after developing a distaste for my body and tried many, many fad diets I saw online which amounted to starvation and the loss of 30 lbs. Going from 130 to 100lbs at 5'6 at the age of 13.
After parent intervention as I had no intention of stopping, I got to a normal weight but became obsessed with calories after discovering CICO (calories in calories out) terrified to get "fat" again. I continued like this for years eating as much junk as I could then drastically reducing my food intake for a day or two repeating the cycle.
Throughout this ordeal I was always very active participating in boxing, cross country, swimming and wrestling with my fasting diet helping with gastric reflux I developed during the weight lost.
It wasn't until 2023 that I truly started to commit to active change. I had reached rock bottom giving up on all of my sports and only letting my obsessive diet behavior tighten its grip on me. My weight was starting to slowly creep, and I had all but given up happy to live in blissful compliancy until on July 1st, 2024...
I discovered weightlifting.
